3D Print Residency

Here are some behind the scene shots from my recent residency over the summer with Design Wales at PDR, Makers Using Technology.  I spent 2 months learning to use freeform software and a haptic arm that allows you to virtually carve clay on the screen.  The prints I came out with were cured resin and printed in layers supported by wax structures.  I created a range of mouthpieces from 3d scanning birds wings at The National Museum Of Wales in Cardiff.  Inspiration also came from a collection of bones and other natural history I have collected.  I manipulated multiple wing segments and fitted them directly on a virtual face to get the right scale and fit.
